Hidden Within is a genre-blending work for clarinetist (movement artist), double bassist, and optional dancer. The bassist is located centerstage representing gravity. The clarinetist, dressed all in white, is the bright side of the moon. The optional dancer, dressed all in black, represents the dark side of the moon and all that we keep hidden within. The movement for Hidden Within is built on gestures we see every day, and the psychology behind these gestures — how a gesture can mean different things simply based on body language. Repetition and dynamic changes are used throughout the development of the piece to create anticipation, clarity, and longing. The score comes with the electronic track and click track. The electronic set up requires a laptop with DAW, speakers, monitor, (bluetooth) ear pieces and microphones for clarinet and bass (preferred for better balancing).
